Mr. Sutton counsels small, medium, and large software and hardware companies in matters relating to patents, licensing, intellectual property planning, and risk assessment. Before his career in patent law, he developed educational and modeling software and hardware for the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. He remains active in the software community as he occasionally meets with software developers at the Hacker Dojo in Mountain View or at SuperHappyDevHouse. Sub-specialties include three-dimensional modeling, query and document processing, system diagnosis and error recovery, and user interface design.
